Deposit Schedule and Deadlines (For both Nigeria and Ghana Trips)

May 15th 2019 (1st Deposit)This is the official registration deadline to lock in the advertised per-day rate (Nigeria: $129/day; Gha​na: $115/day).

 

2 ways to register: 1) Deposit a non-refundable deposit of 1/3 of your total trip price; 2) submit proof of purchased flight tickets.

Either money deposit or proof of purchase will be sufficient to lock you in for the advertised per-day rate. Details of hotel reservations will be provided after May 15th. People can still join if they miss this deadline but per-day price will no longer be guaranteed. Contact Kwesi if you have questions. 

  • Proof of ticket to be emailed to Kwesi (contact@cbbexperience.com).

  • Email Kwesi for instruction on how to deposit via Paypal, Cash App, and Zelle. Also, please contact Kwesi If you're modifying your travel dates and are unclear of your total trip price.

 

July 15th 2019 (2nd Deposit): Submit proof of purchase of flight tickets or make a non-refundable deposit of 1/3 of your total trip price.

Sept 15th 2019 (3rd Deposit): Submit proof of purchase of flight tickets or make a non-refundable deposit of 1/3 of your total trip price.

Dec 1st 2019 (Final Deposit): Full payment of total trip price due in order to guarantee all of your on-the-ground-costs will be covered

                     (i.e. food, lodging, transportation, tour site and festival entry fees). Contact Kwesi if you have questions.

Dec 27th – Official arrival day in Accra

Arrival day. Airport pickups and check-in at hotel.

Optional group outing in the evening for a light meal.

 

Dec. 28th – Accra

AFROCHELLA FESTIVAL DAY!!

 

Dec 29th – Accra --> Cape Coast

Spend the morning in Accra. Drive to Cape Coast for hotel check-in and lunch.

Visit Cape Coast Castle. Dinner and evening on the beach

 

Dec. 30th – Cape --> Accra

Spend the Morning in Cape Coast with brief driving/walking tour.

Drive back to Accra for hotel check-in and late lunch. Pre-NYE night out in Accra

 

Dec. 31st – Accra

NYE night party in Accra!

Daytime: (Group or individual) Tours of tourist sites or tours of other Accra locations of interest

 

Tourist sites: Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, Black Star Gate, Independence Square, National Museum, Art Center (shopping), National Theater, Flagstaff/Jubilee House, W.E.B. Dubois Center, Brazil House in Jamestown

 

Other Accra locations of interest: Oxford Street shops in Osu, Labadi Beach (more commercialized), Next Door Beach (less commercialized), Makola Market, Accra Mall, and Accra Sports Stadium.

 

Foodies: Osikan Ocean Rock Restaurant (Jamestown), Buka (Osu), The Republic Bar and Grill (Osu), Café Kwae (Airport City), for local flairs ask about Chop Bars, Indomie Joints, and Pork Joints!

 

Jan 1st – Accra --> Kumasi

Drive to Kumasi for hotel check in and late lunch.

Various Kumasi activities: Manhyia Palace, Adanwomase: Kente Tour, Adinkra Print-Making Tour, Kejetia Market Tour (the largest single market in West Africa), and visiting students are Tetreful Technical School.

 

Jan 2nd – Kumasi

Jan 3rd – Kumasi --> Accra

Leave Kumasi after lunch.

Jan 4th – Offical Departure day

Individual last-minute shopping, packing, and airport drop-offs!

NIGERIA ITINERARY DETAILS

Nigeria Dates: (Dec. 14th to 26th)

Dec 14th – Lagos (Official arrival day in Lagos)

Arrival day. Airport pickups and check-in at hotel.

Nigerian Jollof welcome reception & dinner.

 

Dec. 15th – Lagos --> Victoria Island

Driving tour through Victoria Island (island in Lagos) and visit Lagos market. Ready-to-wear Ankara designs (African print) can be purchased. Made-to-order Ankara styles can be arranged for attendees staying for full trip (Dec. 14-26).
 

Dec. 16th – Lagos --> Victoria Island

Visit U.S. Consulate General Lagos. Tours: Nigerian National Museum, Didi Museum, and Nike Art Gallery & Center. Nightlife on Victoria Island (optional).

 

Dec. 17th – Lagos --> Badagry

Drive to Badagry (border town between Nigeria and Benin Republic) and check-in at hotel. Visit the Oba of Badagry and experience welcome and culture activities with live music. Visit Badagry Heritage Museum.

 

Dec. 18th – Badagry

Beach day at Coconut Beach. Evening nightlife/activities in Badagry (optional).

 

Dec. 19th  – Badagry --> Ikeja

Drive to Ikeja (capital of Lagos State) for hotel check-in. Visit Nigerian Government House, Ikeja City Mall, and tour The New Afrika Shrine (honoring Fela Kuti). Nightlife outing in Ikeja (optional).

 

Dec. 20th  – Ikeja

Send-off for departing attendees and welcoming new arrivals at Airport. (Individual or Group) nightlife in Ikeja/at The New Afrika Shrine (optional).

 

Dec. 21st – Lagos (Ijeka/Victoria Island/Lekki)

(Individual or Group) tour of Lekki Conservation Centre and tours of other Lagos locations of interest. Saturday nightlife outing/last night partying in Lagos!

 

Dec. 22nd –  Lagos --> Calabar

Travel to Calabar (about 1-hour flight). Check-in hotel in Calabar (capital of Cross River State). Welcome and brief driving tour of Calabar. Calabar Carnival 2019 informational session.

 

NOTE: Africa’s biggest party, Calabar Carnival, is a month-long celebration of local heritage in Cross River State and throughout Nigeria. It’s known as ‘the pride of Nigeria!’ The carnival is divided into four weeks. The main events occur during the last two weeks (Dec. 19th-31st). Various activities include: musical entertainment (featuring Nigerian and international artists), street parties, art shows, food competitions, masque events and traditional dances.

 

Dec. 23rd –  Calabar

CALABAR CARNIVAL - week 3: The TINAPA Family Festival (carnival activities & schedule TBA). Various (individual or group) activities in Calabar: museum tours to National Museum, Calabar and Slave Trade Museum. Visit SPAR Calabar Mall. Nightlife outing in Calabar. (optional)

Leave Calabar after breakfast to Lagos. Airport drop-offs. Travelers will travel from Lagos, Nigeria to Accra, Ghana (about 2-hour flight) or meet group in Accra for Ghanaian Jollof.
